Weekend In Moses Hole (lake)

Some weekends out can be ok. If I'm not at home , it means I'm making money. Then there are weekends that follow really bad weeks in which I made so little money that I just want to be at home anyway. The phase of the year is, "If you're gonna go broke, You may as well doit at home. " This was one of those weeks. It's ironic in the real sense though. You're all beat up and tired and for nought, then just when you're ready to quit , they give you a job that will make the NEXT pay-check better.
So you put on your Gotowork face, let the clutch out, and steer off into the desert. Now, working over the weekend in trucking can give you a few choices, where do you want to stay for your 34 hour break? Do you have time to get a 34 hour break? Do you want to be Johnny on the spot on Monday? Or does it matter? Do you want to spend a day at a friends along the way ? do you want to hide from the world in some dumpy little obscure hole on the side of the highway? Do you drive like hell to get close to monday's delivery in time to get a 34 before you deliver? Or will you even make it in time to do that? If you won't make it in time then you might want to spread your hours of service out. Because, if you dont get that , then you will not want to go over 70 hours of service in 8 days. Now you'll counting hours all week. Yuck. Then, where you park matters. Is it truck legal ? Does that town have a truck stop ? Is it one you feel safe at? Do you fuel there so you can get a free shower or are you gonna pay $10.00 to feel like a human being? Do they have laundry facilities? Is there a sit down diner? or is it fast food all weekend? Bars? How's your pocket money?
All of this takes me about ten minutes to write about about but all those questions go through my head in the first minute when I find out my load, and then I try to decide where I'm goin and how I'm goin to go about getting there.
This is what I've done this weekend. Thursday in Buttonwillow, CA, then Friday in Kingman, AZ. Then I get loaded and run through the Nevada desert for a day and wake up in ID. A short eight hours later ,... here I am! Central Washington. Not alot here to see. There is quite a bit of agriculture and that's about it. I did get my laundry done and there is a resteraunt. I wish there were more than that to tell you . However, this is real life not a Great American Novel. I just haven't written in so long that I felt compelled to write something. You know, YOU HAVE GOT TO DO SOMETHING!!! I think I've had I all i can stand of that phrase this year.
Maybe my next entry will adress that one. : ) so long for now
